Crown Green Bowls, now there’s a sport that I haven’t photographed before.
Not known for high speed action or danger, bowls is nevertheless a popular sport, particularly in the north of England. The Ribblesdale Classic is a new competition, reportedly the largest prize pot in the sport and held only 500 metres from my home. There was a good standard on show even as the weather turned somewhat inclement and tried to put a dampener on proceedings. Once you have the standard shot of the bowler releasing the bowl, you do need to work hard to find other types of images though to build a story of the day.
