A visit to Spain to photograph some wildlife at Lagoon El Taray in the Toledo region led to me staying in the town of Villacañas. This town, with a population of around 10,000, is very much a rural working town surrounded by farmland producing a variety of crops. In between my Photography expeditions I took time out to have a wander around the town to get a feel for it, taking in the sites. Being way off the tourist trails, very little English was spoken so communications were quite difficult at times but I got by one way or another.
The nature of the photography trips meant that there was just time to venture out for lunch and a late evening meal. There were some tasty local beers on offer but ordering a specific size was interesting, it seemed as though every bar or restaurant had different sizes of glass. Each drink came with a free Tapas dish which really made going out good fun.
Below are some images that I took on my phone camera that may give an impression of Villacañas.
Hasta luego mis amigos
