In March I was fortunate to get accreditation for the All England Badminton Tourament held at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. It was an eye-opener to witness the behind the scenes activity as TV crews, press photographers and ‘content creators’ gathered their media for sharing with the world’s media.

There were four courts continually within use and the competititors were amongst the world’s best players and the standard showed. Badminton can be looked upon as a leisurely activity but when played at this level, the action is non-stop and at high speed throughout.

I was shooting at 30 frames per second and often with pre-capture activated too to get the critical moment – this, of course, leads to a high volume of images on the memory cards. Below are a few of my images from the day – I took over 8,000 in total.
