It seems like at this time of year everybody is reviewing the year that was so I thought I’d join in. Below are my six favourite images of 2017, not necessarily the most successful but the ones that I like the most…
First up is a simple portrait of Carla Monaco from the last shoot of the year, I’ve added a bit of mood to the image to give it a more ‘artistic’ look than is my norm.
Second is a shot of a Cheetah in the wild of the Kruger park in South Africa. We have been four times to the park and this was the first time that we saw a Cheetah from a reasonable distance, it also posed rather nicely for the camera.
The ‘Whispering Waifs’ are part of the Ragged Victorians history group and were seen at the Black Country Museum in Dudley. This was a grab shot as the two girls passed secrets.
‘Indomitable Spirit’ is a shot of Natasha James taken in Yorkshire early in the year using a simple two-lights set-up.
This one was shot at the Whitby Steampunk event in February was the second shot of the day. It shows Sophie Peach set against a backdrop of a superbly adapted steampunk VW camper.
The final shot is a sports image, a genre I’m trying to develop, and was taken at an inter-league game at Ribblesdale Wanderers CC in Clitheroe. The timing of the shot was just what I was trying to capture as the bat sweeps the ball to the boundary.
