The Cuckoo is a bird that was often heard but rarely seen, nowadays it isn’t heard that often either. As I’ve been roaming about the countryside I feel that I’ve been lucky if I hear one a year these days and until this occasion I had never actually seen one. This particular Cuckoo was photographed on an upland moor on the edge of pine forests in Scotland and it was only seen for 3-4 minutes so I had to be quick. The poor light and rain made for difficult photography conditions but with the help of boosted ISO and a long lens the following images were captured. I took over 200 shots in those 3-4 minutes but there was a lot of repetition, thank goodness memory cards cheap and reusable.

That’s brilliant that you actually saw one.
