We spent a morning at Brockholes Nature Reserve, a day when the weather was supposed to be fine but it actually poured down at the start.
I had bought a 500mm lens last year but have not really had opportunity to test it out until today. As a lens it’s pretty powerful at bringing those more distant or smaller species into the camera at a reasonable size.
A few hours passed as we wandered through the meadows and woodland then passed the pools in search of photographic subjects. There was birdsong aplenty all the way around as parents and fledglings darted about the place, but often they could be heard but not seen. Anyway we managed to positively identify twenty species during our time there and even managed a few decent shots of some of them…
