For me, the 60s will always be remembered for the music – the beginning of my favourite genres including Progressive and Classic Rock. But for many others it is the fashion that sticks in the mind – when clothes became less staid and more expressive. Some giants of the industry came to the fore during this period, names that are still relevant today and certainly memorable.

I booked a couple of hours with Carla Monaco to re-create some of the looks and we managed to work through a number of sets featuring the styles of the day. The intent was always to shoot black and white but some of the outfits demanded colour too. so each image had the dilemma – should this be mono or colour? I’m sure I’ll change my mind on some of them too.
