It’s been a long three years since I was last north of the border with camera in hand, so a quick check of the weather forecast and a message to the hide owner and I was off. I’m very much drawn to the so-called ‘Sparrowhawk hide’ as it offers not only the hawks – there are currently 2-3 in residence – but also many other small woodland birds too and if you’re lucky a few of the local mammals will wander by. This occasion was up there with my other visits with plenty on show, the only difficulty being to concentrate on one thing at once. A side purpose to the visit was to try to really get to grips with my Canon R5 which I hadn’t used for any extended period of time and I needed to learn more about how it handles in conditions such as these. Needless to say, I learned loads and need to practice a few things before I’ve really got the hang of it. Below are some of the images from the day…
