As I prepare for another – my sixth – visit to Africa later this year I began reminiscing about previous visits and realised that I had not mentioned the Skies !
Africa is a continent of vast landscapes, rich cultures, and diverse wildlife. But one of the most striking features of Africa is its skies. From the golden hues of the savannah to the deep blues of the ocean, from the fiery reds of the desert to the lush greens of the rainforest, the African skies offer a stunning display of colors and shapes that captivate the eye and the imagination.

One of the reasons why African skies are so beautiful is the variety of weather patterns and climates that occur across the continent. Africa has four major climatic zones: Tropical, Arid, Mediterranean, and Temperate. Each zone has its own characteristic sky, influenced by factors such as humidity, precipitation, temperature, and wind. For example, the tropical zone, which covers most of Central and West Africa, has high humidity and rainfall, resulting in cloudy skies with frequent thunderstorms. The arid zone, which covers most of North Africa and parts of Southern Africa, has low humidity and rainfall, resulting in clear skies with intense sunlight and heat. The Mediterranean zone, which covers parts of North Africa and the southern tip of Africa, has moderate humidity and rainfall, resulting in mild skies with seasonal changes. The temperate zone, which covers parts of South Africa and the highlands of East Africa, has variable humidity and rainfall, resulting in diverse skies with different weather conditions.

Africa is a continent that inspires awe and wonder, and its skies are no exception. The African skies are a reflection of the diversity and beauty of the land and the people, and a source of inspiration and joy for those who gaze upon them. The African skies are a treasure that deserves to be admired and celebrated.

Hi Steve, the image at the top of this post is fantastic. Would you be willing to share the original jpeg? The savannah grass with the dark rain clouds. I’d like to print it at A1 size. Thanks Bruce
Hi Bruce
All images that I publish on here are for sale, the cost depends on the usage. If you wish to proceed then let me know the intended use and I will create an image that is printable at the specified dimensions. Images uploaded on here are at a size & quality that will not make suitable prints.

Hi Steve, thanks for getting back to me.
I am looking to do a single print for my study. Size wise I am either considering A1 or A2. The image captures the essence of Africa and I’d love to have this in my home office. Hence why I am reaching out. I was reaching out on the off chance that there wasn’t a cost for the image. But if there is, let me know and I’ll consider if it is feasible. Regards, Bruce
