I’m recently returned from the latest trip to Kruger National Park in South Africa.
I think I now go for animal watching rather than photography as I take fewer photos on each trip, however, I have told myself that I will only press the shutter if I am going to get something better or different to the images that I already have. So, the basic shot stats are…

  • 16 Days in the park
  • 5572 images taken
  • 3481 images deleted (so far)
  • 2091 images retained

I will select the best of the remaining images and process them over the next weeks or months. Processing tends to be basic exposure tweaks to bring out the details and a bit of a crop to get a pleasing composition.

The images this time definitely have more of a pictorial edge to them as I have tried to capture different images. We got some beautiful sunrises and even a milky way shot alongside the usual array of wildlife images. There appeared to be more big cat sightings this year, maybe because we stayed longer in Satara which is a known hot-spot for lions.

Sadly, sightings of Rhino were down yet again as the results of the poaching problem were evident, on the other hand the Elephant sightings were regular and some healthy herds were seen, including two very young calves.

Stories will be added to share some of the better sightings that presented themselves as I gather the images together so watch this space. Click HERE to see the images that have been processed so far.
