A Splendid Day Out was the title of a Steampunk gathering in Morecambe recently. The event is somewhat smaller than the better known Whitby and Lincoln meetings but it is much more local to me and I fancied an interesting day out. The main centres were the Platform and the Winter Gardens where some markets stalls and varied entertainment took place. The Steampunks were evident in all their finery as usual – the effort that goes into their costumes is fantastic. As always these people are happy to pose for photographs and help to create some great visual images, all you have to do is ask and be polite. Pride of place for me went to Steve and his incredibly modified VW campervan – the more you look at this vehicle the more there is to see.
