I recently attended a ‘Bug Count’ arranged by the Pendle Hill HLF Project at Springwood, Whalley. The purpose was to grow the number of identified species present at the site and use this information to better understand the environment there and also to update information available to the general public. On the day the event was well organised with a number of enthusiastic and friendly support staff on hand, all willing to help explain and answer questions. A number of survey events are being run across the summer help identify the various species present, all are free to attend and they can be found by clicking on the link above. All finds are recorded using the iNaturalistUK app so the findings are there for all to see and to add to.
